NHS Acronym Buster mobile app updated and improved

NHS Acronym Buster mobile app for iOS and Android

We have relaunched and improved the NHS Acronym Buster mobile app, which is now available for iOS and Android devices. The app collates over 700 acronyms and abbreviations commonly used within the organisation to help users quickly decipher meaning in meetings or on the move. Originally developed by us in 2014, the new version has been technically updated and now integrates with headless CMS Contentful, so authors can manage acronyms in real time.

With so many acronyms and abbreviations used by the NHS, it is impossible for staff to memorise them all. This app allows staff to have access to the entire database at their fingertips. Designed to be ultra simple, users can scroll the database alphabetically or use a predictive text search to find what they need quickly and easily.

The app also includes a form that allows users to submit an acronym they would like to see added to the app, helping to ensure the app stays up-to-date and comprehensive.

The NHS Acronym Buster was created using web technologies – Sencha Touch and PhoneGap.
