After much speculation, the Wolfram Alpha project has arrived. Hailed as a rival (and indeed, successor) to Google, the Wolfram Alpha is a ‘computation knowledge engine’ rather than a search engine and wants to change the way people use online data.

Not satisfied with a bit of web 2.0 social interaction, Sir Tim’s vision for next generation of web sites and services involves developing applications that are capable of computing semantic searches, so called web 3.0.
